USTR Zoellick Announces Staff Appointment

WASHINGTON - United States Trade Representative Robert B. Zoellick today announced the following addition to the USTR staff:
Regina Vargo - Assistant USTR for the Americas. Ms. Vargo is a thirty-year veteran of the Department of Commerce, serving most recently as Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Western Hemisphere. At Commerce, she managed the Department's participation in the Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA) negotiations and the U.S.-Chile FTA talks, and led the U.S. delegations on electronic commerce. She also directed Commerce's support for the negotiation and implementation of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). Her broad experience at Commerce included serving as a senior trade policy advisor in the Office of the Secretary and coordinating industry input into U.S. trade policy programs. Ms. Vargo graduated from Georgetown University with a bachelor of science in foreign service.
