Statement by United States Trade Representative Michael Froman

June 21, 2013

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Trade Representative Michael Froman issued the following statement today after his swearing-in by Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan:

“I’m honored to have been sworn in today as United States Trade Representative. This is a crucial time in America’s recovery, and trade policy can make an important contribution. President Obama has laid out a robust trade agenda, and our job is to make sure we implement it in a way that supports America’s workers, farmers and ranchers, manufacturers and service providers, innovators, investors and consumers. Trade must promote economic growth, create jobs and strengthen the middle class. As USTR, I intend to use every tool to increase exports of Made-in-America goods and services, level the playing field for our people to compete and win in the global economy and fully enforce our trade rights, while also working to foster development through trade. USTR has some of the sharpest and most effective public servants in all of Federal government. I look forward to working with them to deliver on the President’s agenda.”
