Americas

The U.S. government is committed to providing trade-related technical assistance to developing countries in the Americas so that these countries participate fully in important trade negotiations, such as the Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA) and the World Trade Organization’s (WTO) Doha Development Agenda, and trade effectively in a global environment. In fiscal year 2002, U.S. trade capacity building assistance to the Americas totaled over $90 million, up from $61 million in 2001, a 49-percent increase.
