In addition to pursuing U.S. trade policy objectives through the World Trade Organization, USTR, together with other agencies, works with various regional and multilateral fora.
Among these are the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum and the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN), which has a Trade and Investment Framework Arrangement with the United States.
APEC was established in 1989 and has been instrumental in advancing trade and investment initiatives throughout the Asia-Pacific Region.
The United States has close ties with many of the member countries of ASEAN and is using our Trade and Investment Framework Agreement with this regional organization to advance trade and investment objectives.
USTR also has leads U.S. participation in the G20 Trade and Investment Working Group and in the G7 Trade Track.
