WASHINGTON – United States Trade Representative Katherine Tai today met with Mexico’s Secretary of Economy Tatiana Clouthier. Ambassador Tai began by thanking Secretary Clouthier for hosting the successful trilateral trade ministers meeting in Mexico to mark the one-year anniversary of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement’s (USMCA) entry into force and reflected on their inclusive trade discussions.
Ambassador Tai and Secretary Clouthier also addressed a range of topics that they have discussed over the last several months and emphasized their shared commitment to creating a stronger, more competitive, and resilient North American economy. Ambassador Tai highlighted that United States remains committed to the full implementation of the USMCA, including the strong auto rules of origin, and Mexico’s important labor reforms. The two leaders agreed to stay in touch in the months ahead.
