BERLIN – United States Trade Representative Katherine Tai today met with Germany’s State Secretary for International and EU Affairs and G7/G20 Sherpa, Jörg Kukies. Ambassador Tai noted the importance of building a close working relationship with the new German Government, and presented U.S. views on today’s global trade challenges, including with regard to non-market economies and the need to develop resilient supply chains.
Ambassador Tai and State Secretary Kukies exchanged views on a broad range of global trade issues, and Ambassador Tai noted the importance of close U.S.-German and U.S.-EU cooperation under the U.S.-EU Trade and Technology Council and through their ongoing work at the World Trade Organization. They also discussed their mutual interest in policies that protect the environment for future generations. Ambassador Tai and State Secretary Kukies agreed to stay in close touch on key issues.
