WASHINGTON – On Sunday, October 30 – Tuesday, November 1, United States Trade Representative Katherine Tai will travel to Prague, Czech Republic.
On Monday, October 31, Ambassador Tai will represent the United States during a meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council held during the Czech Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
During her trip, Ambassador Tai will meet with her European counterparts, including Czech Minister of Industry and Trade Jozef Síkela; European Commission Executive Vice President Valdis Dombrovskis; France’s Minister for Foreign Trade Olivier Becht; Sweden’s Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade Johan Forssell; and Ireland’s Minister of State for Trade Promotion, Digital and Company Regulation Dara Calleary, among others.
In Prague, Ambassador Tai will emphasize the importance of U.S.-European cooperation on a range of shared priorities, including building supply chain resilience, holding Russia accountable for its invasion of Ukraine, and confronting the non-market economic challenges posed by China and other economies. She will also affirm the importance of the transatlantic relationship to advance meaningful outcomes ahead of the third ministerial meeting of the U.S.-EU Trade and Technology Council on December 5.
This trip will be an opportunity to commend the Czech Republic for its Presidency of the Council of the European Union. Throughout 2022, the Czech Republic has played a leading role in uniting European support for Ukraine. Ambassador Tai will underscore the Biden-Harris Administration’s solidarity with the people of the Czech Republic and all Europeans as they grapple with economic challenges stemming from Russia’s war in Ukraine.
