WASHINGTON – United States Trade Representative Katherine Tai met today with United Arab Emirates Minister of Climate Change and Environment HE Mariam bint Mohammed Saeed Hareb AlMheiri.
Ambassador Tai and Minister AlMheiri discussed U.S.-UAE shared interests in trade, food security, and the environment. The UAE is hosting the 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference or Conference of the Parties of the UNFCCC, more commonly referred to as “COP28,” beginning in November. In February 2024, the UAE will host the World Trade Organization’s 13th Ministerial Conference. Ambassador Tai discussed the Administration’s priorities in promoting a more inclusive, resilient and sustainable trade policy. Minister AlMheiri discussed the UAE’s preparations for the COP28 meetings.
Ambassador Tai and Minister AlMheiri agreed to stay in touch on these issues moving forward.
