WASHINGTON – United States Trade Representative Katherine Tai released the following statement following the withdrawal of a Section 301 petition on China’s acts, policies, and practices relating to fentanyl and precursor chemicals:
“I want to applaud the leadership shown by Facing Fentanyl, V.O.I.D.: Victims Of Illicit Drugs, and Families Against Fentanyl in drawing attention to and underlining the urgency of our ongoing fentanyl crisis.
“I met personally with Andrea Thomas, Cami Velci, and Adrienne Sautter, and was deeply moved by their personal stories. I am inspired by their courage and strength as families affected by fentanyl.
“Noting that petitioners have at this time chosen to withdraw the current Section 301 petition, I encourage and support their continued efforts to advocate for and bring about the progress that their loved ones - and all our loved ones - deserve to see.”
