WASHINGTON – United States Trade Representative Katherine Tai today met with European Commission Executive Vice President for a Europe Fit for the Digital Age Margrethe Vestager. Ambassador Tai and Executive Vice President Vestager reaffirmed their shared commitment to working through the U.S.- EU Trade and Technology Council (TTC). They agreed that after the successful inaugural meeting of the TTC co-chairs in September, delivering concrete results for U.S. and EU stakeholders, including workers and consumers is critical. Executive Vice President Vestager noted that the EU very much looked forward to hosting the next TTC co-chairs meeting in Europe in early to mid-2022.
Ambassador Tai and Executive Vice Present Vestager discussed digital trade issues, including our common interest in engaging with our Indo-Pacific trading partners. They also discussed the importance of U.S.-EU cooperation on global supply chain issues including global semiconductor supply. Ambassador Tai and Executive Vice President Vestager agreed to stay in touch on these important issues.
