WASHINGTON – Yesterday, United States Trade Representative Katherine Tai hosted an Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity (IPEF) virtual ministerial to advance negotiations on Pillar I (Trade). The ministerial was attended by representatives from Australia, Brunei, Fiji, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Philippines, the Republic of Korea, Singapore, Thailand, and Viet Nam.
In keeping with the ambitious negotiating schedule put forward, the ministers used this meeting as an opportunity to reaffirm the partners' shared goals regarding Trade Pillar negotiations. Conversations among the ministers were productive in advancing negotiations, and all partners remained eager to make significant progress by the end of the year.
