Bahrain Trade Summary
U.S. goods and services trade with Bahrain totaled an estimated $4.0 billion in 2022 (latest data available). Exports were $1.4 billion; imports were $2.6 billion. The U.S. goods and services trade deficit with Bahrain was $1.2 billion in 2022.
U.S. goods exports to Bahrain in 2023 were $1.7 billion, up 76.4 percent ($726 million) from 2022 and up 63 percent from 2013. U.S. goods imports from Bahrain totaled $1.2 billion in 2023, down 38.0 percent ($722 million) from 2022, but up 86 percent from 2013. The U.S. trade balance with Bahrain shifted from a goods trade deficit of $952 million in 2022 to a goods trade surplus of $496 million in 2023.
U.S. exports of services to Bahrain were an estimated $453 million in 2022, 18.8 percent ($105 million) less than 2021, but 27 percent less than 2012 levels. U.S. imports of services from Bahrain were an estimated $724 million in 2022, 3.0 percent ($21 million) more than 2021, and 41 percent less than 2012 levels. Leading services exports from the U.S. to Bahrain were in the transportation, financial services, and telecommunications, computer, and information services sectors. The United States has a services trade deficit of an estimated $271 million with Bahrain in 2022, up 86.9 percent from 2021.
U.S. foreign direct investment (FDI) in Bahrain (stock) was $155 million in 2022, a 81.5 percent decrease from 2021.
Bahrain's FDI in the United States (stock) was $124 million in 2022, down 58.7 percent from 2021.
