AGOA Status: Mozambique is eligible for AGOA this year. It also qualifies for textile and apparel benefits.
Trade Agreements: The U.S. and Mozambique signed a Trade and Investment Framework Agreement (TIFA) in 2005. The last high-level meeting under the TIFA took place in January 2012. See attached press release for more information. The U.S. and Mozambique also signed a Bilateral Investment Treaty (BIT) that came into force in 2005.
Mozambique Trade Summary
U.S. goods exports to Mozambique in 2022 were $235 million, up 23.7 percent ($45 million) from 2021 but down 33 percent from 2012. U.S. goods imports from Mozambique totaled $177 million in 2022, up 13.6 percent ($21 million) from 2021, and up 359 percent from 2012. The U.S. goods trade surplus with Mozambique was $58 million in 2022, a 69.8 percent increase ($24 million) over 2021.
