WASHINGTON – Today U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai met virtually with Rwanda Trade Minister Béata Habyarimana to discuss the United States-Rwanda trade relationship and ways in which it can be strengthened. Ambassador Tai outlined the Biden-Harris Administration’s vision for a worker-centered trade policy and a deeper U.S.-Africa relationship. Ambassador Tai and Minister Habyarimana also discussed pandemic recovery efforts, increasing production and equitable distribution of vaccines and the proposed waiver of intellectual property protections for COVID-19 vaccines.
Ambassador Tai and Minister Habyarimana agreed to maintain open lines of communication.
