WASHINGTON – United States Trade Representative Katherine Tai today spoke with Japan’s Foreign Minister Motegi Toshimitsu.
Ambassador Tai and Minister Motegi discussed the importance of the U.S.-Japan trade relationship. They committed to engage on shared interests, including World Trade Organization reform, and digital trade. They also shared concerns about unfair trading practices from non-market economies, such as China, and human rights. Ambassador Tai reiterated the administration’s support of and participation in international engagements, including the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). Ambassador Tai and Minister Motegi also agreed on the importance of maintaining regular, ongoing engagement on these and other critical trade issues.
