WASHINGTON – United States Trade Representative Katherine Tai today spoke with Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry Minister Kajiyama Hiroshi.
Ambassador Tai and Minister Kajiyama discussed the importance of the U.S. – Japan trade relationship. They committed to engage on shared interests, including World Trade Organization reform, and digital trade. They also shared concerns about unfair trading practices from non-market economies, such as China. Ambassador Tai reiterated the administration’s support of and participation in international engagements, including the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). Ambassador Tai and Minister Kajiyama confirmed the importance of their ongoing engagement on these and other issues.
