WASHINGTON– Deputy United States Trade Representative Jayme White today held an introductory call with Mexico’s Under Secretary for Foreign Trade Luz Maria de la Mora. Ambassador White noted the importance of United States-Mexico trade ties and the continued implementation of the USMCA, including the Agreement’s landmark labor and environment obligations.
Ambassador White and Under Secretary De la Mora reviewed plans for a USMCA Deputies meeting in the coming months and expressed their joint commitment to advancing work under the United States-Mexico High Level Economic Dialogue. Ambassador White emphasized several ongoing bilateral issues, including Mexico’s energy policy and the importance of Mexican authorities resuming authorizations of agricultural biotechnology products.
They agreed to stay in regular communication, and expressed their shared expectations for a robust USMCA Deputies meeting in the near future.
