PARIS – United States Trade Representative Katherine Tai today met with South Korea’s Trade Minister Yeo Han-koo on the sidelines of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) meeting.
Ambassador Tai and Minister Yeo discussed strengthening the U.S. – Korea bilateral trade relationship and efforts to strengthen the semiconductor supply chain. They expressed their shared commitment to a successful World Trade Organization 12th Ministerial Conference (MC12). Ambassador Tai outlined priorities for the United States, including a meaningful outcome on the ongoing fisheries subsidies negotiations.
Ambassador Tai also highlighted the importance of looking beyond MC12 to sustain momentum for reforming the WTO after the ministerial concludes. Ambassador Tai emphasized that real and lasting reform is necessary for the WTO to remain relevant. Ambassador Tai and Minister Yeo discussed how the United States and Korea can work together on shared interests to achieve a relevant and reformed WTO in the future.
