Readout of Ambassador Katherine Tai's Meeting with France's Minister of Economy, Finance and Recovery Bruno Le Maire

PARIS – United States Trade Representative Katherine Tai today met with France’s Minister of Economy, Finance and Recovery Bruno Le Maire on the sidelines of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Ministerial Council Meeting.
 
Ambassador Tai began the bilateral meeting by recognizing that France is America’s oldest friend and ally. Ambassador Tai reaffirmed the Biden-Harris Administration’s desire to collaborate with France on important global issues, including working together to build a fair international trading system that can deliver inclusive and equitable prosperity to American and French workers. Ambassador Tai and Minister Le Maire also discussed ongoing non-market economic and trade challenges posed by China, which prevent American and French businesses from fairly competing in the global marketplace. 
 
Ambassador Tai expressed her hope that they continue discussing these topics on an ongoing basis in the future.
