WASHINGTON – United States Trade Representative Katherine Tai today met with United Arab Emirates (UAE) Minister of Economy Abdulla Bin Touq Al-Marri and Minister of State for Foreign Trade Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al-Zeyoudi. During the meeting, Ambassador Tai outlined the Biden-Harris Administration’s pursuit of a worker-centered trade policy and opportunities where both countries could work together. She also highlighted ways in which the United States and the UAE could increase their bilateral trade.
Ambassador Tai reiterated the United States’ support for specific reforms at the World Trade Organization, such as adjusting the institution’s approach to special and differential treatment. She requested the UAE’s support for this proposal ahead of the 12th Ministerial Conference at the WTO in November.
Ambassador Tai, Minister Al-Marri, and Minster Al-Zeyoudi agreed on the importance of a strong U.S.-UAE economic and trade partnership and pledged to continue working together on issues of shared concern.
