SEOUL – United States Trade Representative Katherine Tai today toured the Boeing Korea Engineering and Technology Center (BKETC) facility and met with female engineers who make up 40 percent of the workforce. Ambassador Tai and the engineers in attendance discussed the shared challenges and best practices for hiring, retaining and promoting top talent in Korea’s high-tech industries where women comprise approximately 11 percent of the country’s engineers and engineering students.
During the conversation, Ambassador Tai underscored the Biden-Harris Administration’s commitment to developing inclusive, worker-centered trade policies and advancing gender equity and equality. She also highlighted President Biden’s vision for developing an Economic Framework with our partners in the Indo-Pacific that positions our economies for the future and creates broad-based prosperity.
